Delightful Deliveries Goes Out of Business

December 2, 2008 · Filed Under Industry Information

Are you familiar with Delightful Deliveries? The company delivers gift baskets.

I’m unclear as to whether they actually make the delivered goods (I don’t think they do; I believe they’re outsourced by other large gift basket companies to make deliveries).

I read in GoUpstate.com that the firm went out of business in September, yet their Web site says they’re closed for renovations, not entirely disbanded.

An Internet search found some disgruntled buyers and suppliers online calling the owner, Eric Lituchy, nasty names.

It’s a blow to go out of business, and it’s even more of the problem when people who trust you with their credit card information to have their card charged but product not delivered.

In most cases, the buyer can get the charge reversed, but those who use debit cards will probably be part of a class action suit, leading to a settled amount of pennies years later.

Going out of business leaves you dismayed, but it’s also necessary to notify customers that you’re no longer making gift baskets.

Perhaps you won’t send each person a letter. Instead, a notice on your Web site, at the very least, is the right thing to do, along with closing, eliminating, or deleting your secure cart for their and your protection. Who needs the threat of lawsuits?

Do any of you have ties to this undelightful situation?
