What Happens When That Mega Order Arrives?

learn more about gift baskets at a trade show seminarAt my seminars, it’s still good to hear designers ask the question:

“What do I do if I get an order for hundreds of gift baskets?”

That means they’re thinking long term about business, that they’re planning for the future now. Are you doing the same?

How do you plan to handle a single order for 500 gift baskets? Choose your answer from the following.

  • Faint
  • Stare like a deer looking at headlights
  • Ask the client, “Are you sure?”
  • Start writing the order’s specifications on a form
  • There are six basic questions to ask when an order of any size is secured to make sure you have all the details required for flawless execution, next order commitment, and guaranteed referrals.

This is true whether you’ve gained the order during a face-to-face meeting or if talking to the client by telephone.

This outlook is better than one experienced by a designer who’s waiting for the economy to bounce back, a question and answer you’ll read at Ask The Gift Basket Expert.

Self confidence will guide the order to your door. You may not be ready when it arrives, but when the order is finalized, you’ll have developed a complete system to get larger orders and grow your business.

When I have to tackle a new project in my business (something I’ve never handled before), I try to keep lots of notes about the procedures I followed, the tasks involved, the people I spoke with, time spent on various parts of the project, etc. Then, when finished with the project, I summarize those notes and create a “checklist” for myself to use the next time something similar comes my way. The second time around is a breeze!

This is also my blueprint, Lorie.

It may seem bothersome to write these notes, but it’s more bothersome to not know how to proceed.
