What Product Anchors Your Gift Basket Items?

learn more about gift baskets at a trade show seminarLong ago, at a gift basket conference, a designer demonstrated how she secured the contents of a gift basket before applying shrink wrap.

“I use a lot of tape.”

That sentence was an understatement. The contents were practically welded together with tape wound around everything. Customers no doubt had to arm themselves with scissors to free every package before enjoying it.

Her demonstration convinced me that tape may not be my preferred technique. That still left me and others at the conference with a dilemma. If a veteran designer taped her gift basket products in that manner, what would we choose?

My solution came in steps. First, I selected quality baskets, not the flimsy ones available at most discount stores. Next came beads of glue from a glue gun added sparingly between items only when anchoring was absolutely mandatory.

Finally, shortened bamboo skewers taped to products and hoisted down into floral foam became an acceptable solution until liability issues for these potential weapons started to surface.

How do you anchor your gift basket products? Is it with some type of glue substance, or does another supply deliver results?
